a) Coffee Lab: Looking for a choice? Experience the International Coffee Lab’s one-hour class on coffee’s complex process from bean selection to the understanding of a coffee’s bouquet once roasted. Taste the differences for yourself, and then go into the coffee world a little more knowledgeable. This is an exclusive experience at a hidden gem right in our backyard!
b) Create a Centerpiece: If making a centerpiece using items in your yard gives you joy, this one of- a-kind garden store is where you should choose to spend your hour! When you walk in the door, it hits you…it smells just like you’d expect Vermont to smell and the decorations are bound to inspire you with ideas for your home. Take advantage of the ‘try-it’ stations where the experts will be on hand to assist in your learning. Leave with a special complimentary Vermont gift.
c) A whiskey/bourbon tasting. Enjoy a local Distillery just up the stairs from the Coffee Lab. This cottage distillery offers the chance to taste their wares. All made locally, promising a fresh and unique tasting!
11:00 AM: At you next stop, learn a little about the sugarin’ culture, up here in the hills! Have you ever heard of sugar on snow? It’s the Vermont term for fresh maple syrup, heated until it turns into a taffy-like confection, and then drizzled over pure white snow. It is heavenly, and this seventh-generation maple syrup producer, still makes it the old-fashioned way, serving their sugar on snow with sour pickles, which help to lighten its deep maple sweetness.
12:30-2:30 PM: Lunch is on your own in Stowe. Save room for dessert! Your will stroll through art galleries and jewelry stores or grab a cup of coffee or a fountain treat at the Malt Shop, all the while, experiencing quality products for a variety of tastes with nearly 50 unique boutiques, country stores, galleries, specialty markets, sporting goods stores and more. Visit a gourmet Chocolatier: This gourmet chocolatier makes fudge, truffles, chocolate covered caramel apples, barks, and clusters. The shop sources its recipe requirements from Vermont producers. The result is delicious chocolate! During the time the group is in Stowe, Chocolate dipping demonstrations and tasting are a must. Depart by 2:30 PM
3 PM: Trapp Family Lodge History Tour: Visit the famed lodge where the Von Trapps made their home after leaving their beloved Austria during World War II. The Trapp tour begins with an overview of the von Trapp family history; actual vs. movie version. View a documentary film of Maria von Trapp’s memories during her final visit to her former home in Salzburg, Austria. Whenever possible a Von Trapp family member either leads the tour or hosts a question and answer session. After the tour, dinner is served at the lodge. Time to relax and enjoy…whether it be reading a book while rocking on an Adirondack chair, a gentle walk in the gardens, a glorious view of the hills or the lodge itself…. this place is magical!
