Meet your LOCAL GUIDE for a driving tour of SALEM. The name Salem is inextricably linked to the Witchcraft Hysteria of the 1690’s. The city also has glorious maritime history and splendid architecture. You will ride down Essex, Federal and Chestnut streets to view some of the finest examples of 18th century architecture built by ship captains who had amassed great wealth. There will be free time for lunch on your own on Pickering Wharf. Admission is included to visit the SALEM WITCH MUSEUM. Witness the testimony of the hysterical girls, the suffering of the blameless victims, and the decisions of the fanatical judges who sent innocent people to their deaths. This presentation is based on actual trial documents. With 13 stage sets, you will enter the web of lies and intrigue of the Salem Witch Hunt, one of the most enduring true stories in American History. Admission is included to visit the HOUSE OF SEVEN GABLES. In 1668 Captain John Turner built a house that has become one of the most famous structures in American history. This home inspired author Nathaniel Hawthorne to write his famous novel The House of Seven Gables.  Travel to MAINE. Check into the MEADOWMERE RESORT in OGUNQUIT.
A WELCOME RECEPTION will be held in your honor. Don your lobster hat for a LOBSTER CHOICE DINNER with sing along ENTERTAINMENT.

You will also visit the seaside Franciscan Monastery with its beautiful landscaping, outdoor shrines and chapel. Enjoy free time for shopping and lunch on your own in Dock Square. This afternoon, board a one-hour MAINE LOBSTERING CRUISE. Learn how the Maine lobstermen make their living as traps are hauled from the ocean along the rocky coast of Kennebunkport. See the sights as you cruise on the ocean past Walkers Point, the Dark Shadows House and Bumpkin Island, home to a year-round colony of sea birds and seals. Return to your hotel to freshen up before dinner included at a local favorite.

Numerous hands on exhibits, boat building demonstrations, and a lobstering exhibit are on the grounds of this historic shipyard. Travel to BOOTHBAY HARBOR where you will have free time to explore the local galleries, boutiques and plenty of casual restaurants from which to choose for lunch on your own. This afternoon you will take a guided tour of the COASTAL MAINE BOTANICAL GARDENS. At Prescott Park you will wander through the gardens and view the 200-year old Portsmouth Shipyard across the river where today US submarines are serviced. Following the tour, you will learn about the past 300-year history of the historic STRAWBERRY BANKE neighborhood, named by the first settlers in 1630 for the profusion of wild berries found on the riverbank shores. Experience life from the late 1600s to the 1950’s along the Portsmouth waterfront by touring its houses, gardens, and courtyards at your own pace. Join costumed role-players as they go about their daily lives or relax in the shade of award-winning period gardens. Lunch on your own in Portsmouth. Continue your travels back into Massachusetts. Settle in as the baker prepares a deep-dish apple pie from scratch right before your eyes using the freshest ingredients available and apples picked from the trees in our local orchards. Help peel the apples with an antique apple peeler and corer. Learn some of the secrets to rolling out a perfect crust and making a mouth-watering dessert. Then we’ll top it with fresh whipped cream Let the FIREPLACE FEAST begin! Relax by the fieldstone fireplace as the crackling fire roasts your prime rib “to a turn” by rotating it slowly over a crackling fire of wild cherry logs. This jack is the only known 1700’s antique roasting jack that was used to roast fowl and beef in New England that is still in use. The flavor of the fireplace roasted prime rib is unsurpassed. Beware the brimming bowl of freshly whipped cream – the perfect complement to New England’s Best Apple Pie served from an antique wooden bowl.
