Day 1 - A morning departure from you hometown has you heading to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Upon arrival in Lititz, you will enjoy a guided tour of the Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania. The tour offers a glimpse at the natural world that once existed in this region over a hundred years ago. Gray wolves roam their natural landscape once more! begin with an introduction of how the sanctuary was founded, then depart with your guide on a leisurely walk around the sanctuary, stopping briefly at each pack to introduce the wolves and learn about wolf biology and conservation. There will be time for lunch on your own in downtown Lititz, then depart for Pottsville. Arrive at Yuengling Brewery — America’s Oldest Brewery to experience nearly 200 years of American brewing history. Discover the famous hand-dug caves that were used for beer fermentation before refrigeration and the iconic brew house with its breath-taking stained glass ceiling. You’ll learn how the brewery survived Prohibition at the adjacent creamery business and enjoy a sample of some of their most famous brews in the tasting room. After the tour, depart for Reading where lodging has been arranged at the Best Western Plus Reading Inn & Suites (please pack an overnight bag) and dinner has been arranged at a local restaurant.
Day 2 - Breakfast this morning, then check out and depart for Boyertown. Today it’s all aboard the
Colebrookdale Railroad for a 2-hour Secret Valley Expedition. Board one of the meticulously restored century-old rail cars for an expedition into one of the most scenic and historic regions in the northeast. Once the province of pioneers and patriots, the Colebrookdale is your ticket to a verdant land lost in time. Lunch is on your own after the ride, then depart for nearby Pottstown and the Ryerrs Farm for Aged Equines. Your guided tour will explain Ryerrs mission to care for aged, abused or injured horses, and provide a home where they can spend their golden years out to pasture. The horses at Ryerss are never worked, go to auction or are used for experiments. They simply spend their days grazing and enjoying life as part of the herd. After the tour, depart for home – taking with you fond memories of Pennsylvania’s Americana.
